The past ages of man have all been carefully labelled by anthropologists. Deions like “Palaeolithic Man”. “Neolithic Man”, etc., neatly sum up whole periods. When the time comes for anthropologists to turn their attention to the twentieth century, they will surely choose the label “Legless Man”. Histories of the time will go something like this:” In the twentieth century, people forgot how to use their legs. Men and women moved about in cars, buses and trains from a very early age. There were lifts and escalators in all large building to prevent people from walking. This situation was forced upon earth-dwellers of that time because of their extraordinary way of life. In those days, people thought nothing of travelling hundreds of miles each day.But the surprising thing is that they didn’t use their legs even when they went on holiday. They built cable railways, ski-lifts and roads to the top of every huge mountain. All the beauty spots on earth were marred by the presence of large car parks.”
The future history books might also record that we were deprived of the use of our eyes.In our hurry to get from one place to another,we failed to see anything on the way.Air travel gives you a bird’s-eye view of the world-or even less if the wing of the aircraft happens to get in your way. When you travel by car or train a blurred image of the countryside constantly smears the windows.Car drivers,in particular, are forever obsessed with the urge to go on and on:they never want to stop.Is it the lure of the great motorways,or what? And as for sea travel,it hardly deserves mention. It is perfectly summed up in the words of the old song:”I joined the navy to see the world, and what did I see?I saw the sea.”The typical twentieth-century traveller is the man who always says “I’ve been there.”You mention the remotest, most evocative place-names in the world like El Dorado,Kabul,Irkutsk and someone is bound to say “I’ve been there”-meaning,”I drove through it at 100 miles an hour on the way to somewhere else.”
When you travel at high speeds, the present means nothing: you live mainly in the future because you spend most of your time lookiong forward to arriving at some other place. But actual arrival, when it is achieved, is meaningless. You want to move on again. By travelling like this, you suspend all experience; the present ceased to be a reality: you might just as well be dead. The traveller on foot, on the other hand, lives constantly in the present. For him travelling and arriving are one and the same thing: he arrives somewhere with every step he makes. He experiences the present moment with his eyes, his ears and the whole of his body. At the end of his journey he feels a delicious physical weariness. He knows that sound, satisfying sleep will be his: the just reward of all true travellers.

Recently I have seen the curling sport for many times in TV.It is so interesting that I want to play it,but I don’t know anything about it.Now through the internet,I find some information about curling and it is as follows:

Curling is a team sport with similarities to bowls and shuffleboard, played by two teams of four players each on a rectangular sheet of carefully prepared ice. Teams take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones down the ice towards the target (called the house). Two sweepers with brooms accompany each rock and use timing equipment and their best judgment, along with direction from their teammates, to help direct the stones to their resting place. The complex nature of stone placement and shot selection has led some to refer to curling as “chesson ice.”

in this picture, four curling sheets are shown.

Last night,I went to park and made some exercise with my friends. In my memory, this is my first time to work out at night since I came here.We played basketball and ran two laps. After all exercise,I felt so comfortable and remembered a famous saying:"Life lies on exercise."Right!Exercise is very important and necessary to our living.Exercise can contribute to building our bodies, improving our mood, and heighten our ability to response agilely. In a word, exercise can help us live longer and more healthily. So I decide to make a long-term habit of exercising.

I called a good friend the day before yesterday, refer to the marriagement each other. She planned to buy house in Changsha city.I said to envy her only because it’s impossible for me to buy house at present.
After then, she asked something about myself, including my boyfriend.
Needless to say,he was born at the country and not rich for his family.
In my surprising, she told me not to contact with him any more. What’s more, she would help me have another rich boyfriend.
I have nothing to say.Frankly speaking,I don’t know what to say.So many persons asked such questions to me,including parents, relatives and friends. Before,I never considered what they said to me,of course, what they thought is good for me inner heart.
But now,I am contradiction and hesitated if I’m back.
In the mordern world, which is true, money or love?
My dear reader, which would you choose between money and love?If there is a way both two items,it’s the greatest. But it’s too difficult to find.

Britain’s hopeful Alistair Brownlee didn’t let the home crowd down as the 21-year-old dashed to win the sixth leg of World Triathlon Championships Series here on Saturday.

The hot favorite Brownlee had grabbed three gold medals from the first five legs and made a shining start on Saturday by finishing the 1,500 meters swimming course in top five among the 65 male competitors.

Although the 12th finisher at last year’s Beijing Olympic Gamesmade a lackluster performance later by struggling for a 46th finish in the 40km cycling, Brownlee pushed himself forward in the running stage and finally claimed the title in one hour 41 minutes and 50 seconds.

“I can’t quite believe it, I never expected at the start of the season to get a win in Madrid, Washington or Kitzbuhel or here,” said Brownlee, whose younger brother Jonathan completed the event by ranking 27th in 1:43:48.

German Steffen Justus took the second place with eight seconds behind and Kris Gemmel from New Zealand finished third in 1:42:01.

Reigning world champion Javier Gomez pulled out of the competition as the Spaniard hit the pavement during the cycling event.

Reigning World and Olympic champion Valerie Vili from New Zealand is widely regarded as top favorite for women’s shot put of the 12th World Championships in Berlin, and she is to defend her title later on Sunday.

A number of world’s top women shot put throwers are to compete for the top title of the event Sunday evening at the Olympic Stadium, and all eyes will fall on the 25-year-old Vili.

Vili marked world-leading 20.69m in May, and she once again improved on her record, making 2009 her 11th consecutive season of steady year-on-year progression.

Vili’s two previous records came when winning in Beijing and Osaka, so if that trend were to continue, the New Zealander will be looking at another huge throw in Berlin.

Defending World and reigning Olympic champion Olga Kaniskina from Russia falls as a clear favorate to women’s 20km race walk at 12th World Championships in Berlin, and she is expected to shine at Brandenburg Gate, the finish line for the event, on Sunday.

Kaniskina has proved the dominant force in women’s race walking for the past couple of seasons and she starts a clear favorite for victory in Berlin.

The brilliant Russian walker has maintained her near invincible form this year, winning the Russian Winter Walking Championships in a world leading 1:24:56 in Adler and followed this up with a decisive victory at the IAAF Race Walking Challenge in China.

Kaniskina’s last defeat over the 20km distance came in May 2007and many expect the 24-year-old to make history and become the first woman to retain this title.
